Awareness Coordinator

Cesvi has been one of the first INGOs intervening in Libya, as soon as the Arab Spring begun in 2011 and is carrying out a Humanitarian Protection Program in Tripoli, Misrata and Zwara.The project “Recovery, Stability and Socio-Economic Development in Libya” funded by the European Union Emergency Trust Fund for Africa intends to sustain and enhance the current capacity of the existing health system (in the specific areas of intervention). The purpose is to support the physical rehabilitation of main hospitals and health centers and to strengthen the current capacity to deliver medical assistance to all people in need.

Within the framework of this intervention the Awareness Officer, supervised by the Awareness Coordinator, will be in charge of supporting development of IEC and awareness material packages, as well as being in charge of conducting awareness-raising campaigns in order to promote inclusive access to health services.

Specific tasks and responsibilities:

  • Support the Awareness Coordinator in identifying existing barriers that limit access to health services for different community groups;
  • Contribute to development of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials such as posters, leaflets, flyers, PowerPoint presentations and others about health, social acceptance and other crosscutting subjects (in coordination with Awareness Coordinator and International Medical Corps focal points);
  • Organize awareness-raising and advocacy events targeting different audiences (projects’ beneficiaries, local authorities and others) with purpose of reach diverse audiences and sensitize them on themes such as discrimination and integration;
  • Distribute NFIs kits to the target beneficiaries during the the awareness raising events
  • Organize information dissemination campaigns where IEC materials are distributed among communities so as to inform audiences about available health services;
  • Support International Medical Corps focal points in building capacities of community mobilizers on how to carry out distribution of IEC materials (it is required to support facilitation of trainings about communication skills, how to influence social and behavioral change and trainings about the specific materials developed);
  • Report immediately any violation of Cesvi’s Code of Conduct, CP Safeguarding and PSEA Policies;
  • Represent Cesvi in a professional manner in meetings and ensure good cooperation/coordination with other projects ongoing at Cesvi’s;
  • Participate in multidisciplinary trainings and meetings regarding Protection activities;
  • Assist in performing any other tasks as requested by the Awareness Coordinator or any member of Cesvi Senior Management Team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. University degree in public health, social work, social sciences, development studies, or a relevant field is an asset.
  2.  At least 1 year experience with UN or NonGovernmental organizations is an asset.
  3. Trainings in Protection standards, Human Rights, International Humanitarina Law and gender mainstreaming are an asset.
  4. Previous experience of work with migrant and refugee communities is an asset.
  5. Good command of written and spoken English.
  6.  Good communication skills and ability to conduct training and awareness campaigns
  7.  Good computer skills especially Microsoft packages.
  8.  Good organizational and management skills.
  9.  Ability to work with minimum supervisionDuty station:  Tripoli
    Responsible to: S/he will report directly to the Field Coordinator.
